Learn about the new features in the Tecno Camon series with the new Tecno camon 15 plus its price.

At this moment Tecno mobile has its fine share of the market in a number of African countries, especially in Uganda and Nigeria.

When you talk about mid-range phones at a fair price, most people in Uganda will think about this brand, although other companies are starting to get the pricing of mid-range phones right. Companies like Samsung with its A-series, Xiaomi, and many other manufactures.

Tecno Camon 15 is the latest flagship of Tecno when it comes to its Camon series. I am specific about the series because the company pushes out new phones by modifying a previous version in a specific series. This means that the Camon 15 is particularly an upgrade to the Camon 12, not Phantom or POP.

As you’d expect from a flagship phone, Tecno definitely put in some work in the Camon 15 versions to improve the overall experience of the phone compared to the previous Camon 12.

Let’s dive into it and see exactly what the Tecno Camon 15 brings on table.

Looks and design

tecno camon 15 design

Tecno seems to have gotten the design right for all their latest phones. All the way from the Tecno Camon 11, we’ve seen that remarkable design that is similar to the famous brands like Samsung and Apple.

We see a glamorous plastic back that extends all over the frame of the phone. The shiny back with textual lines reflects light in a way that’s appealing to the eye.

As with most of the recent designs from Tecno, the fingerprint sensor is placed at the back.

The Camon 15 comes with a height of 164.08mm and a width of 76.35mm. While bumping a lot of hardware, the designers tried to make the phone as slim as possible with a thickness of 8.75mm. I wouldn’t call this improvement because the Camon 12 is actually slimmer with 8.2mm.

The handset comes in three colors which include, Shoal Gold, Fascinating Purple, Dark Jade which gives you choice over color.

Screen and display

As phone design keeps improving, the screen-to-body ratio is something that improves as well. You can see this by looking at the previous models like the Camon CX.

The Camon 15 has an 82.78% screen-to-body which is an improvement in design from the previous models.

For those who use their phone for a lot of watching, the 6.6-inch dot screen makes the Camon 15 a good phone for videos and playing high-end games.

The quality display is not a thing for Tecno phones, and like with the predecessor, we still get that 720*1600 Display resolution which is fine but not competitive.

Camera

The Tecno Camon 15 has a modified placement for the selfie camera having an in-screen cut-out. I find this appealing and I believe you will as well. This is something we’re commonly seeing in 2020 modern phones.

There was not so much of an upgrade in the selfie camera, comparing it to the Camon 12, but you’ll still see a small difference. It’s still a 16MP Front Camera with Dual Flash.

The difference with the quality of images taken with the Camon 12 and Camon 15 is brought up the difference in CPU power which plays a major role in processing images. We’ll see about from the inner hardware specs in a bit.

The selfie camera takes nice pictures, with well-balanced light. The dual flash is in-display built as well just like the camera and you’ll notice it at the extreme top edge of the phone.

When we get to the back, the phone is loaded with 4 cameras, and its the first Tecno phone to have this number of cameras. The main camera is a 48MP Ultra Quad Camera. It’s called a quad-camera because it takes 4 different pictures and then finally combines them into one perfect image.

Still at the back, there’re 3 cameras which include a 5MP ultra wide camera which is handy when taking pictures that should cover a wide view plus 2 more 2MP cameras.

Overall, the Tecno Camon 15 has a decent camera for a 2020 phone, considering the improvements in features like the bokeh which has become more accurate.

Like with the pictures, the camera can record good quality videos of upto 1080p resolution at 30fps using both the front and back cameras.

Performance and software

Many phone manufactures are having a customized OS which is still based on Android. The Camon 15 runs HiOS 6.0 which is based on Android 10, so that means everything that comes with Android 10 plus some more from Tecno.

Inside the phone is an Octa-core 2.0GHz Cortex-A53 which allows you to play most of the common games decently. Games like Call of Duty and PUGB can be played without much of a lag.

For the RAM, am I kind of disappointed with the 4 Gigs. Most of the modern phones are coming with a minimum of 6GB, but again it makes sense when you look at the price tag of this phone. 4GB can work seamlessly if you don’t do a lot of gaming, but if you’re planning to use this as a gaming phone, the Tecno Camon 15 Premier will be much better for the task.

Still with the internal storage, the 64GB is not much for 2020, but will still work for a normal user. In case you need to store more stuff inside there, you can extend the storage with an SD card.

Battery life

The 5000mAH battery is sofar the highest long living battery in a Tecno phone. No matter what your doing, it will take you more hours before you require a next charge. I like this about Tecno, never disappoints.

Overall experience of the Tecno Camon 15
